TO TEST ELECTRICAL DRAW ON A 48 INCH FAN IN ACTUAL CONDITIONS
OUT SIDE CONDITIONS ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE THIS DATE / TEMPERATURE 36 DEGREE, WIND SPEED 18 MPH, GUSTING TO 25 MPH.

A WIND METER WAS USED AT THE SITE AND READ FROM 842 TO 1444 CFM.
THE ACTUAL TEST COMPARED ALL FANS OF THE SAME BRAND AND SIZE / THE TEST WAS TO COMPARE THE WIDELY USED CONE EXHAUST SYSTEM TO THE TOP AND BOTTOM EXHAUST SYSTEM DEVELOPED AND PATENTED BY O’KELLEY MFG.
BOTH FAN ENCLOSURES WERE TESTED WITH NORMAL DIRT CONDITIONS AND AFTER CLEANING. TEST FOUND LITTLE IF ANY AMPERAGE DRAW DIFFERENCE.
 
IN BOTH TESTS THE WIDELY USED CONE TESTED DIRTY 1.4 - 1.4 -1.5 EA LEG CLEAN 1.4 - 1.5 -1.4 EA LEG.
IN BOTH TESTS THE O’KELLEY DIVERTER TESTED DIRTY 1.1 - 1.2 - 1.2 EA LEG CLEAN 1.1 - 1.1 - 1.1 EA LEG.
RATE OF EXHAUSTED AIR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CONE FAN AND THE O’KELLEY WIND DIVERTER CAN BE DETERMINED AS SIGNIFICANT.
EXHAUST RATES GATHERED THIS DATE YIELDS THE O’KELLEY WIND DIVERTER HAS AN EXHAUST OF 30 % HIGHER OVER THE CONE FAN. GUSTING WINDS, CREATED EVEN A LARGER LOSS FOR THE CONE FAN.
CONCLUSION / COST EFFECTIVE
WITH A 18 MPH WIND YOU CAN REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF FANS IN OPERATION BY ONE OUT OF EVERY FOUR THAT YOU ARE NOW RUNNING.
YOUR ENERGY COST WILL BE REDUCED BY ONE / FOURTH IMMEDIATELY.
OPERATING COST OF THE REMAINING THREE UNITS WILL BE REDUCED BY THE DIFFERENCE OF AMPS DESCRIBED IN THE TEST ABOVE.
WIND ADJUSTMENT FROM 18 MPH TO 30 MPH WILL DOUBLE THE LOSS OF EXHAUST IN THE CONE FAN AND INCREASE THE COST OF CFM EXHAUSTED PER AMP OF POWER RESPECTFULLY.
